Today was the last class for Maternity Wellness. This class discusses issues and expectations for the changes in women’s body postpartum. These changes can be overwhelming but if they understand what is happening and know that they are not the only ones experiencing these changes, it can be more manageable. The fourth trimester (eight weeks postpartum) is the most important for healing women’s bodies after birth. It is crucial to remember that rest and recovery are essential during this time because the body has gone through a lot of stretch and strain during pregnancy. Prior to returning to regular physical activity, starting work-out slowly and going back to the basics make sense to make you feel strong again. It will take time for your body to adjust postpartum whether you have undergone a vagina or cesarean birth, such as the uterus will begin shrinking which may cause after birth pains. The good news for the most is that you will lose your weight about 10 lbs after birth, and it will continue to lose as time passing. It is a perfect time to stay healthy via regular exercises and enough rest. A naked each day at a time it’s best to work on retraining for at least 8 weeks, prior to increasing intensity in your exercise regimen. It is also advisable to see pelvic floor physiotherapy, they will be able to prescribe exercises that will strengthen the muscles that have been stretched during pregnancy. After you have retrained and been evaluated, you can gently begin to increase the intensity of your training. Make sure to attend all your postnatal appointments with your physician.
