Today, as the first home game after the holiday, neither the men’s nor women’s basketball teams had adjusted to their best conditions. The pace of the game was relatively slow, with little direct confrontation, mainly with peripheral passing cooperation to score. In the end, both of our basketball teams won the game with a small score. For the women’s game, Tiffin University used a second-half comeback to dispatch Lake Erie, as the Dragons won 53-42. Tiffin opened the game leading after the first quarter 12-7 but the tables quickly turned in the second quarter. The Dragons’ offense could not get on track, as Lake Erie rallied for a 17-6 advantage in the period that put them up 24-18 at halftime. The Dragons managed to regroup after the break, though, shutting down the Storm as they held them to a reduced shooting in the game. Overall the Dragons outscored Lake Erie 35-19 in the second half. The Dragons dominated the third quarter, outscoring LEC 18-8 to take a 36-32 lead into the final period. Tiffin never let up, pushing its lead to 15 points with 2:00 remaining after a 17-6 run to effectively put the game away. Tiffin University’s men basketball team dispatched Lake Erie 78-71. The Dragons held their composure down the stretch, the defense forced turnovers leading to points, hitting their foul shots to put the game away. In this game, Tiffin committed some unnecessary turnovers of its own while outscoring LEC 19-5 on points off turnovers. They also held a 36-16 advantage in the paint despite being out-rebounded 42-26. The Dragons opened on a 23-12 run after the first 10 minutes but the Storm eventually cut into the lead leading to a 31-31 tie with 3:04 left in the first half. The Dragons were not to be denied heading into halftime, as they finished the half on a 7-0 run to lead 38-31 at the break.TU opened the second half on a 16-10 run that pushed their lead to its largest margin at 54-41. But the Storm used hot three-point shooting to go on a 20-7 run that brought them to within 64-61 with 5:00 to play.
