Today I did some researches for my project of crafting Tiffin University’s Center of Elite Sports & Culture. With the help of Dr. Tiell, I studied three similar school websites: Norwegian University of Science & Technology (NTNU), University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS), and University College Dublin (UCD). Among the three high-educated schools, despite there was the center for elite sports & culture, they had specific features, respectively. NTNU used a simple style to outstand their elite sports and athletics. Online visitors could easily find this university was good at snow sports, where they located, and who were working in this center. The backside of simple style was obvious that visitors would feel the contents were too little to learn about other information except for snow sports. UCCS was the absolute opposite of NTNU. The home page of the Center for Elite Sports & Culture was informative with different section buttons on the top. Visitors could find the information they personally interested in, such as the history, the events, the staff, and the accomplishments. Nevertheless, being informative and detailed sometimes meant time-consuming when visitors would like to find out the information that they needed. The last one, UCD made a relatively right example for the Center of Sports & Culture. They adopted the simple website design as well as NYNU to help visitors figure out the entire structure and get useful information as soon as possible. Instead of detailed sections, UCD illustrated their important information directly to save time and keep visitors’ interests, such as highlights, missions, and programs. No matter what points they aimed at, these centers made good use of social media to display their real-time activities and expand their influence, like Facebook and Twitter.
