Day 20 Kim Ng case study information collection 2-4

已更新:2021年4月18日

Today I focused on Kim Ng’s personal information research. Kim Ng was born in a five-daughter Chinese descent family in Indiana and she is the eldest. Her father, Jin Ng, who was an American of Cantonese Chinese died when she was 11, worked as an accountant. Her mother, Virginia Fong, who was born in Thailand but moved to Long Island at 5, worked as a banker. Ng spent most of her childhood in the New York area, then her family moved to New Jersey. Ng was an outstanding student-athlete at New Jersey’s Ridgewood High School, where attending both softball and tennis teams. She played on the doubles team and was in some big tennis matches at the state tournament level. Second base was her position when she joined the softball team in ‘84 and, by senior year, she was the starting shortstop. Ng was a middle infielder on the diamond, showing off a mix of leadership skills and scrappiness. She was also very “analytical” about everything and seemed to have a natural feel and knowledge of the game. Ng was a varsity softball player for the Maroons of the University of Chicago during her collegiate career, playing primarily at shortstop and third base. She graduated in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in public policy. As a collegiate student-athlete, Ng was named team captain and team MVP. She also was president of the Women’s Athletic Association during the 1989-90 academic year.
