Day 30 Tokyo Olympics postponed impact questionnaire from China's summary

已更新:2021年4月18日

Today I summarized my Tokyo Olympics postponed impact questionnaire after received the last part from Jessica in Beijing. This questionnaire research lasted about five weeks and mainly focused on the attitude of Chinese via two methods to hand out the questionnaire: papered and online. The aggregate was 463 and the total effective was 463. Because of the continuing negative influence of COVID-19, papered questionnaire got a relatively smaller proportion in the summary with 27.86%. The result could not absolutely reflect the Chinese real attitude and choices for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics because all the participants were my friends, family members, and relatives. My hometown was in the eastern part of China and it was a coastal city with a relatively developed economy. Besides, as a typical seaside northern city, participants in my hometown had an old-fashioned view of consumption, especially compared with the southern seaside cities at a similar economic level, such as Hangzhou, Wuhan, Nanjing. As a result, about half of the result resource was from Shandong Provinces with 41.47%. The rest of the sum was mainly from the South of China, which was concentrated on five provinces including Hubei, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Guangdong. Among them, the Province Hubei accounted for the most data with 29% through papered and online collecting methods.

I found some interesting phenomenons in the process of collecting questionnaire data. One was that the questionnaire would be finished more as early as possible. During the five-week research period, 44% of the effective questionnaire was finished in the first week when this questionnaire launched. As time passed, the passion and interests of participants would dramatically go down from 44% to 5% in the fourth week. Another was that participants would complete their questionnaires well when the launcher gave them more attention or encouragement. At the beginning of the last week, I send a kindly reminder to participants to submit the questionnaire, an interesting scene appeared. The participation in the questionnaire rose slightly, from 5% last week to 12%, basically the same as the 14% in the third week.
