Today was my first day to start my mentorship. As a volunteer, I got an opportunity to shoot pictures for games of the Tiffin University Athletics Department. There were two basketball games between Tiffin and Dominican, one for women’s and another for men’s. Tiffin, Ohio - Tiffin women’s basketball used a 20-8 third-quarter advantage to pull away from Ohio Dominican on Saturday afternoon and take a 65-56 victory. Ohio Dominican got off to a great start, taking leads of 18-13 after the first quarter and 34-26 at halftime. It was the third quarter, though, where the momentum shifted entirely to the Dragons. Tiffin opened the period with 13-straight points to take a 39-34 lead at the 5:44 mark. ODU stopped the bleeding with a triple, but back-to-back baskets from Jasmine Watts and Nichols gave Tiffin a six-point advantage with 3:07 to go in the quarter. Tiffin entered the final period with a four-point lead, but the Panthers were able to cut it to just one at 50-49 with 5:51 to play. The Dragons quickly put an end to the comeback, however, scoring seven points in a row for an eight-point lead with two minutes left. After that, it was just a matter of converting free throws and Tiffin came away with the 65-56 victory. Tiffin men’s basketball lit up Ohio Dominican from deep earned an 83-62 win in the season opener. Tiffin led by just four at halftime, but that barrage from deep led to a 47-30 second-half advantage. TU and ODU traded blows for much of the first half, eventually coming to a 25-25 tie with 7:47 to play in the period. King then ignited an 8-0 run by getting fouled on a made-three pointer and converting the four-point play. The Panthers were able to chip away at the lead before halftime, bringing the score to 36-32 at the break. It was all Dragons in the second half, though, starting with a bucket and a highlight-reel putback dunk. With a four-point lead at the 14:24 mark, Tiffin proceeded to go on a 21-5 run to go up 67-47 with just over eight minutes remaining. Tiffin would coast from there, extending their lead to as much as 25, 74-49. Reserves got in on the fun late as well, drilling a three in the final minutes as the Dragons earned the 83-62 victory.
