Day 6 Minor League Ball Teams Research 3-3

After the comprehensive research and study, today I started my porting in this research project. As assigned by Dr. Bonnie Tiell, I was responsible for three minor league ball teams, two for NBA G League(Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Iowa Wolves) and one for ECHL (Fort Wayne Komets). To provide help for the study of the minor league market, the research was mainly from the following aspects to gather data: team’s history including leadership changes and afflictions, home venue and its main functions, entertainments around the sports facility, and the relative marketing staff. Based on my research, I found that the complex venue was better to make more benefits than the one with a single function for specific sports. The multi-functional venue could make good use of internal and external resources to prosper the local sports and entertainment market. If the condition was permitted, an ideal situation was that a complex venue could be the home venue for various league teams with different types of sports. Besides, to accomplish a successful league team, no matter major professional leagues or minor leagues, except for the good leadership and excellent playing performance, appropriate marketing strategy is essential in the core operation plan. Taking Allen County War Memorial Coliseum as an example, this venue was the home venue both for Fort Wayne Mad Ants (basketball) and Fort Wayne Komets (hockey). This venue could hold other activities like weddings, meetings, and concerns. Around Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, there were various kinds of cuisine to take and different prices hotel to have a night stay. No doubt that Allen County War Memorial Coliseum was the core complex venue for the Iowa Region.
