Today, there were two games between Tiffin and Trevecca-men’s and women’s basketball. For the women’s game, a huge second-half comeback came up just short as Tiffin University fell on a last-second shot against Trevecca Nazarene 67-65. The Dragons, who trailed at the half 38-27, went on a huge run in the third quarter, outscoring TNU 21-9 to put them ahead 48-47 heading to the fourth quarter. Leading 53-51 with 6:32 left, TU went on a 7-0 run that pushed their lead to 60-51. They maintained their 9-point lead with just 1:34 left but went just 3 for 10 from the free-throw line over that span to open the door for the Trojans. With the score tied 64-64 with 7 seconds left, the Dragons’ Jada Tate drove inside and was fouled. After making one of her free throws, the Dragons held a 65-64 lead but TNU’s Keeley Carter drove the floor and made a layup, and was fouled with just 0.3 seconds on the clock. The Dragons could not make a shot in the time remaining. The Tiffin University men’s basketball team lost 70-69 to Trevecca Nazarene. Trevecca went up early on the back of a 15-4 run but the Dragons fought back with a 7-0 run to bring the score to 15-11. However, the Trojans pulled away to go into the half up 43-29. The Dragons came out after the half with a long 19-7 run through the first ten minutes of the second half to come within four of Trevecca, 52-48. The Trojans countered with an 8-2 run to go up 60-50. With 20 seconds remaining and the Trojans leading 70-67, the Dragons had a chance for a final shot. The Dragons missed a three-point attempt with 2 seconds left. Wesley Jordan’s rebound and put back as time expired left the Dragons short by one point.
